Life might have you down. You might not have gotten the promotion at work you had been praying for. You might not have gotten the guy that you were so "in love" with. You might have failed your class that you needed to graduate. You might have had every bad thing possible happen to you and you are wondering how can there even be a God that cares for me. You might not even believe that there is a God.
But I am here to tell you don't give up on God when God hasn't given up on you.
Feelings of inadequacy, ugliness, and low self-esteem may have penetrated your mind. You may have fallen back into old habits like, that empty beer can just sitting on your kitchen table, that computer staring right back at you, or that mirror that distorts reality. You may have gotten in with the wrong crowd, that boy that filled your head with lies about how worthless you are or that friend that tells you that reaching that next high is the only way to escape the hurt of this world. You may get home and sit in you room and think why. Why am I doing this? What is wrong with me? You cry out to God, but your prayers just seem to hit the ceiling and come hurdling back at you. You may feel no joy, no happiness, and utterly and completely alone.
But I am here to tell you don't give up on God when God hasn't given up on you.
God picked you specifically to be a part of this world. He knew that you were the absolute only person that could do what He needed to be done on Earth. And when you have finished this job you will return to Him, but guess what? You are reading this right now, which means you are alive, and you have a job to do. God looked at you and was like, " Yeah, I think this world could use a Madison in it."
But what do we do when that voice, that loud LOUD voice is telling us you are alone, alone in this world, and there is no hope for you. What do you do when your mother is diagnosed with stage 5 breast cancer, what do you do when your best friend dies in a car crash, what do you do when you job lays you off and you have a family to provide for. What do you do when your whole world seems to come crashing in and you have no control, no power, and you feel useless.
You look to God. You pick your head up, dust your knees off, and get back on the horse. God is growing your roots. He makes your trials into your testimony. He has never once given up on you. Not even one time. His love for you is eternal. I've given up on God though. I've prayed the same prayer a thousand times without even a reply. I've screamed at God, I've pleaded with God. I've bargained with God. I've given up on God. I think things will just go better if I take them into my own hands.
God created you. You are his greatest creation. You are His masterpiece. He handcrafted you with the thought and the precision he used to paint butterflies, the strength it took to carve the mountains, and the gentleness it took to fill fields with flowers. You have a reason to be here. You have a reason for walking this Earth. There will only be one of you. God thought it was important for you to be here. Remember that.Do not focus on the temporary. Do not put your heart into the temporary. Put your heart into eternity. Don't buy those clothes that will fade into last month's fashion, don't buy things that provide you temporary happiness. Don't try to make God into this person that you have to figure out. "Why would you do this to me?" Until we are walking through those gates of Heaven we will never understand why things happen, but we are supposed to trust. Trust in a God that knows us better than we know ourselves.
So don't give up on God when God hasn't given up on you.
