Most of the time it is an excuse to why we made a bad decision. I was just trying to live life to the fullest. I jumped off of a bridge with my GoPro because I was just trying to live life to the fullest. I can't remember last night because I was just trying to live life to the fullest. I ate two cartons of Ben and Jerry's while watching the Bachelor because I was just trying to live life to the fullest.
Jumping off of a bridge will not give you freedom. The genie at the end of your bottle will not give you eternity. And while Ben and Jerry's may give you a temporary joy, it will not be everlasting.
Our culture today screams at us, when you are in your twenties you can do anything. Be crazy. Live it up. Hook up with that boy, cuz hey, you're in your twenties. Date the hottest guy, it doesn't matter that he has the IQ and personality of a stick, everyone will be jealous of you because you're obviously living life right. Get so wasted that you forget your weekend, cuz hey, you're in your twenties. Do drugs and kiss strangers, cuz hey, you're in your twenties. Jump off random cliffs, cuz hey, you're in your twenties. Don't worry about and save your money, cuz hey, you're in your twenties.
So many times we forget that the biggest adventure that we can possibly go on is right in front of us. Living life to the fullest is when we give our life over to God. He takes us on the biggest adventure of our life. I know it sounds super, mega cheesy, but it is so true. When you walk step in step with Him, that's living life to the fullest. Do life with the one who breathed life into you.
I know so many people who seek after the thrill of life because they don't know the giver of life. They are empty inside and try to fill this space with pure adrenaline. Now I'm all for the adventure. I'm all for making memories that you can look back on years from now and have no regrets. Because, the truth is, your twenties are where it's at. It's going to be the best time of your life because it is where you have the most freedom. Just don't forget who gave you that freedom. Don't forget to ask Him where He wants to go.
Don't forget to live a life with meaning. I've made the mistake of traveling and forgetting how beautiful the Creator was when he made the rolling mountains that pierce the clouds like arrows, the seas that bubble and churn around my painted toes, and the stars that twinkle above me as I sleep in my eno. My biggest dream is to travel to Yellowstone. I won't make this trip, however, until I can fully appreciate God's beauty. How perfectly He created this world. The precision He had when he painted the towering trees, the glaciers, and endless fields. How can that type of beauty even be described? How can you fully appreciate it, until you fully appreciate who God is?
The craziest adventure that you can go on is pursuing God with everything you have. Because when you give your life fully over to Him, you better watch out. He's going to show you beauty that you never even imagined. You're going to experience a love that's like no other. You're are going to go on adventures that stretch your realm of possibilities. But hey, you asked Him to join you, and He's going to give you a life to live to the fullest.
