"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created." John 1:1-3
God, three in one, in perfect relationship, in alluring harmony with one another. God was the first example of love, love in the most purest, perfect, and splendid way.
From nothing, absolute nothingness, God formed the Earth making it perfect. He created the wind to brush through the leaves and the branches, singing his praises. He created streams of water rushing and abundant with fish of every kind. He created oceans so vast and deep, it is unfathomable to the mind. His world was like a mirror, perfectly roaring the praises of his glory, reflecting his image completely.
Then sin entered the world, shattering the mirror into thousands of different pieces. Shards splintering the perfect world that God had created, not unbeknownst to him. Man picked it up in his shaking tear-filled feeble hands trying to piece the wreckage back together, but sin had already entered the world. Things like death, destruction, lies, hurt, tears, disappointment, frustration, and racism entered the world, rearing their ugly heads. Humanity didn't know what to do with sin so they began blaming it on others. "This is all because of you." "You caused all of this. Not me." "It is because of the color of your skin." "Because of where you were born." "Because of the language you speak." "Because of your economic status." "The world's problems are because of you." "You deserve the pain." "You deserve the injustice." "You deserve death." "You, in fact, don't deserve anything at all."
Racism is one of the ugliest most disgusting sins I can think of. The fact that someone can look at another race and say that the world's problems are because of you is revolting. The world's problems do not derive from a particular race. Being Black is not the problem. Being Hispanic is not the problem. Being White is not the problem. Being a sinner is. Which is why the good news of Jesus is so amazing.
The good news of Jesus is for everyone. Not one person is left out. It is the most beautiful thing in the world because it is a gift that shatters barriers. There is absolutely no way you can earn it, but by grace, God has given it to us. "By grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works lest anyone should boast, so by grace through faith." Ephesians 2:8. God looked at us, us of every color, and saw our neediness. He saw our desperateness. He saw our need for a savior, and he provided Jesus. Jesus died for everyone who believes in him. He took our sin upon him and died and rose again on the third day so that we could be reconciled with God. That is the good news that every single race can rejoice in and no one is left out from.
When we put our trust in Jesus we are a new creation. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!" 2 Corinthians 5:17. We are united by faith and through grace to Christ as a body of believers. We are brothers and sisters and have no time to cause division based on the color of our skin.
If you have been hurt by the product of racism. I am deeply sorry. Please know that you were hurt by human sin and brokenness, but not by Jesus. Jesus invites you in, he never discludes you based on the color of your skin, the language you speak, economic status, etc. We will all one day be worshipping him together in Heaven. "After this I looked, and there was a vast multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language, which no one could number, standing before the throne and before the Lamb." Revelation 7:9. He delights in you and invites you into his presence. So run to him today, he welcomes you in with open arms.
